dog license

 The City of Fairfield requires the purchase of an annual dog license no later than April 15th of each year for all dogs.

 

Licenses can be obtained from the City Hall Office ~ 407 Soldier Rd. ~ 208-764-2333. 

Proof of current Rabies vaccine is required.


4-5A-2: A. 1.:  It shall be unlawful for any person to own or harbor any dog within the city limits without obtaining a license for the animal from the City Clerk.


4-5A-4:  It shall be unlawful for any owner or harborer of any dog to permit the dog to run at large upon the street, alleys, sidewalks, school grounds or other public places or upon the private premises of others within the city.  


Identification Tags

Make sure your pets are wearing identification tags so that if they do become lost, they can be returned promptly. Animals found running at-large should be wearing identification tags, so we know who to call and where to return the animal to his/her rightful owner.


License Fee:

  • Neutered or Spayed Dogs (Altered)
    • 1 - 3 dogs are $10.00 per dog
    • 5th & 6th require a kennel license


  • NOT Neutered or Spayed Dogs (Unaltered)
    • 1 - 3 dogs are $20.00 per dog
    • 5th & 6th dogs are $50.00 per dog


  • Kennel Permits
    • Required if there is an excess of 3 dogs


Penalties

  • First offense: Fifty dollars ($50.00) plus court costs.
  • Second Offense: One hundred dollars ($100.00) plus court costs.
  • Third offense, and thereafter: Misdemeanor and fine up to one thousand ($1,000.00) plus court costs.
